What about March??

So, as I am writing now, I am kind of hungry of Indonesian Food. So sad that I still don't know how to make Indonesian Food the way it's supposed to taste. The closest taste I can do is when I put instant mix. Well, I can't go wrong with that, it all comes in a package ha ha.
So this month has been good for me cause I have been going to this Indonesian lady who really knows how to cook and always cooks lots of food when I go there. She's one of the best. She used to own a restaurant in one of food courts in Indonesia. Even though I take the kids most of the time, she and her husband don't seem to mind. They always get ready though before we get there, like moving all the furniture around, or making sure all the glass are protected. ha ha They are awesome!!! Her name is Edna and her husband is Roger. Roger knows the boys are crazy, but he's always trying hard to keep them busy when we are there.

My baby girl on the other hand is so well behaved. She's the best!!! She doesn't run, she doesn't jump, she doesn't push, she doesn't scream, she doesn't throw stuff, she's just everything else my boys are. ha ha.. wish all of them were girls, Moses doesn't wish so though ha ha

There have been so many new things I learn from Edna. She showed me so many different spices that I never used to know what to do with them, so I really enjoy spending my time there beside of course tasting her cooking.  She also explained to me how to reserve all the spices so that they don't go bad fast. So that's how we do it, usually I just sit down and listen to her while she cooks and I taste her food. Michael and Morie will be playing with Roger, and savanna would just be walking around exploring the house. :)

Well, now I feel like talking about my daughter.
Since she has extra curly hair, I sometimes don't know what to do with her hair. So, when I found out there were these cute Kufi hats and Headbands with flowers, I started to always put one on hers. I love how it looks on her. No one will ever mistake her as a boy anymore ha ha.. And I started to collect those for her, and it becomes my passion, and people start asking me where to get them and some will buy them from me.
It is fun to mix and match those kufi hats, headbands and flowers, and my daughter seems to enjoy wearing them as well.

What A Month!!!

Yeah... what a month, and I referred that to the Month of February!!! Even though I am kinda relieved to know that at least now we have passed that busiest month of the year, I still have to say that it was a crazy one.

It was started on February 7, Michael's Birthday. He turned 4!!! Yeah, he's a big boy! Since I told Michael that it was his Birthday that morning, he wouldn't stop singing happy birthday to himself. Lucky him, Moses was home all day because it was Sunday. As a tradition, we got him a small birthday cup cake and sang happy birthday. And for the very first time since a long time, all of us went out to eat. The restaurant that we picked was Joe Crab Shack all the way in Sandy. There was one closer to where we live, but the one in Sandy has a Play Place for the kids and we both agreed that it would be worth the long drive. :) It was so much fun. I enjoyed our family time. Even though Moses did not think so, I thought the food was Great!! I love that place! The kids did not enjoy the food as much as they enjoyed the slides but the most important thing was we all had fun.

February 14, 2010!! We all know that Valentine's day is a day for boyfriends and husbands not to forget. :) Moses was lucky he did not forget. :) He got me lots of Dove chocolates and also a nice Valentine's card that he gave me along with some cash. Ha ha.. he knows me well. He took me to the mall and let me go shop alone while he was cruising with the kids. It was heavenly!!!

February 16 was Savanna's First Birthday. That day Moses could not no go to work so I just took the kids out to Kangaroo Zoo. No, we didn't see real Kangaroos, it's just a Play Place with lots of Kangaroo Slides. They had so much fun and I was just happy that there were happy. Sometimes when I look at them I am still asking myself if they really came out of me, and at the same time I am grateful that they are all mine!! Later that night we all sang happy birthday for her and enjoyed the cake Moses brought home with him.

Next was Morie's Birthday, February 23. I know right... ha ha. Well this time finally we gave them their birthday presents. I took all the kids to TJ Maxx to get their Birthday Presents. I had to go alone because Moses was at work. It was crazy because Morie was being a pain. He wanted to push Savanna's stroller without myhelp and he couldn't do it right, so he was just hitting people with the stroller. And everytime I tried to help, he would just lay himself on the floor and cried. He's lucky it was his birthday otherwise... ha ha just kidding. Phew... After getting lots of staring and pity smiles, shopping was over. We went to Walmart and I got Morie the smallest birthday cake just to give him a lesson. ha ha.. this time I am really joking. The reason why I got him a small cake was because we still had leftover from Savanna's and this time of time is just not wise to waste anything.

February 27. Yes it was my Birthday. I woke up hearing CNN news about Earth Quake that shook Chile. 8.8 Magnitude!!! So here I was on the internet to comment on all wishes for me on my Facebook, but my heart and ears were on the news. What was going on??? Moses was still laying down but I knew he was not sleeping. I told him that now Tsunami Warning was issued for Hawaii, Pacific Islands and Asia because of the Earthquake. He said he already heard just like I thought. So as I was trying to make sure that my friends in Hawaii and other places were ok, I got a text message that my friend just lost her 1 year old baby. Again I was just stunned. What was going on? Again why?? She's one of my good friends, and I know she is a great mother. I can't imagine how one has to cope with losing a child and I don't even have any words to describe how sorry I was with the news. All I could tell her was that for her to remember she would see him again and may he rest in peace.

Looking at the positive way, I decided to spend a day out with Savanna on my Birthday, this time only us girls. We drove to Park City and went shopping. We both were enjoying our time alone without the boys. We stopped by at Kris and Kam's house on our way back. And when we got home, Moses had a birthday Cake ready for me and we all went to eat at a Korean Restaurant in Roy. Yes, it is far. But I told Moses that's where I wanted to go on my birthday because the owner of the Restaurant is an Indonesian who is married to a Korean lady. I know them, we used to be in the same ward in Indonesia, and I just found out that they had moved here and opened a restaurant. Very good food, friendly people, great service :) Love love it there.

Now is March! We won't have another birthday till July, Moses's Birthday. So I will see you, then.. he he. Nah.. I will keep updating my Blog now that I am far less busy!!

Ugh... so selfish!!!!

I have been sick for the last few days. It's just common cold like running nose, minor headache, sore throat and some body aches. I woke up around 4 AM to take medicine. While waiting for the ibuprofen to dissolve and take my headache away, I was browsing KSL. It is a website just like Craigslist only it is for Utah community. As most people do, I went to the free section. (you never know maybe someone had extra million dollar to give for free. ;)

While going through it, I saw a title of "WTF with Haiti." I clicked on it, and read what I thought was the most selfish opinion someone could write.
This person claimed she is a single mother with two kids who goes to work everyday and did not understand why the government put so much effort to raise money to help the people in Haiti. As she went on, she complained that she lives here in the United States and thought that the government is so blind that they didn't see her and helped her instead. There were other things she wrote that made me want to vomit and my head more ached.

Ok, first of all, she did not offer any free stuff. Second of all, who cares she has to go to work everyday. Who cares she is a single mother and has to raise her kids by herself. She can file for child support or get other supports from the state. She did not have a building fell on her, she did not have to see her family and friends suffered and died in front of her eyes. She did not have to hear all the screaming coming from people who are trapped begging for someone to save their lives. Please people have a heart!!! USA is a blessed country. It is one of the richest countries. There is no way anyone who lives here has worse life than those who are in Haiti. We should be grateful that the government is not blind to see that and has the means and capability to help them.

We try to keep up with the news. It is heart breaking. It is sorrowful and painful. The images show on TV are too hard to watch. My heart cries for them. This could happen to us, no place is safe from any turbulence. I am thankful that we can eat, have a place to live and can give each other hugs. I pray that Heavenly Father continues to protect us and bless us!!!

All about my Children, little bit about me and Moses

Although Moses has been trying hard to always be there when I do grocery shopping, there are still times when I have to go alone with all the kids. I thought I would not be able to do it, but then it turned out to be a lot of fun, and I actually enjoy it. Of course I can only get what I really need that day since there's no where to put them. :)

Here is how my little girl looks when I take her out in her stroller. She always smiles. She's a happy baby, and just by looking at her, I have to smile, too.

This picture was taken after we got back from an emergency room after Michael hurt himself while watching TV. I really did not know what happened because I was in a different room changing Savanna's diaper. But from Michael's story, he claimed he pushed the TV, then he pooped and TV fell and hurt his finger, we concluded, he touched somewhere on the TV, got electric shocked and it scared the "S_ _ T" out of him. he he.. excuse my language, but I think that's what really happened because I really had to clean him before we ran to the hospital. It was a really crazy day. I was so scared that he would lose his little finger, I wouldn't stop crying on the way to hospital. He took it pretty good. He did not cry that bad. I am glad that the doctor was able to put his finger back together. In case you wonder what happened to the TV. Well, we had to kiss it goodbye. We lost our $ 1200 plasma TV not including over $ 6000 medical bill that we later received. Thanks to our insurance, we only had to pay $35.

This picture was taken before we went out to Mac Donald wishing to win a Million Dollars monopoly game. No, we did not win anything. Anyway, it is never easy to be able to sit those two boys together for pictures. They can't sit still, this one was the best and the only good one out of over 40 shoots I took and I am not lying or exaggerating.

Michael always loves and is very gentle when playing with his little sister. He's very protective over his sister. Not so much with his little brother, though, I think with Morie they are more competitive with each other.

For The Love of Cooking

At first I did it because I didn't have other choice. It would be really costly to buy cooked food each time. But now I do it because I really enjoy it. I like to go browsing Internet for recipes and experiment them. Moses used to laugh at me, but now he agrees that i am a better cook.

I blame it on Facebook for the reason I don't blog as much. I can't deny it though that I love facebooking. It is fun to meet so many friends that I thought I would never get in touch again. It is good to know how they are doing and just to wish each other the best!!
I am most excited to meet my high school friends. There were so many memories left when we graduated. I remember the last day of High school, I wore my high-school uniform to sleep till the next day and I was so sad that I had to take it off. Too bad I don't have any picture with me cause I left all the memories back home. So I am happy that Facebook brought all the memories back.

I love this quote: "The only Unsinkable Ship is Friendship." and I believe it is true. I value friendship.
With all the kids that I have :), I also found it hard to stay in touch with all my friends before I joined facebook. So Facebook is the answer!! Here you go friends... Here is how I am doing!!! how about you??? Love facebook!!!

Holly Molly, it is the end of 2009.
I can't believe that the last time I blogged was over a year ago. Ok, so if I was pregnant then, now my baby is already 10 months. She was born February 16 2009. Her name is Savanna Putri Kabo, just like what I wanted to be.

At first Moses was arguing because Savanna means Dry Land and for him it is just not right to name his baby after a dry land. My defense was that Sahara means desert, too, but Angelina Jolie and Bratt Pitt still named their baby after that. Also, I could not come up with other cute names that start with "S" beside Sari. he he.. Then you may ask, why did it have to start with "S". The answer was because all the boys names in our family start with M, so should it be with all the girls, too to start with "S." I know... Moses was shaking his head, too. So, anyway...

Giving birth to Savanna was so easy. It was fast and painless. (well, I was not sure if it would be as painless without the Epidurals. :))

Savanna has been a blessing to our family. She has made our family grow stronger. We are forever grateful for her being. Morie was the only one who was having a hard time with the new addition but we managed to convince him that we love him the same. He had not turned one yet when Savanna was born, so we continued calling him "baby Morie" just so he understood that he was still our baby, too.

This year has been going well for us. It was Moses's wish that I did not work so started October 21 2009, I have been indefinitely a staying at home Mom. (I am copying Tiger Woods statement of leaving golf indefinitely he he). Staying home with the kids is interesting. :) It took me a while to really enjoy it. However the kids were able to get me to believe that they worth every minute I have, which is so true. :) I love my children!!!!!

Christmas Treat

Kris called me at my work last night. She was so excited telling me that I had to come to her house to get Christmas treat that she and Kam prepared for us. I finish working at 9 pm so I asked if i had to be there that night, she said it would not taste good if i waited too long. So I told her, I would drive tommorow to her office and get the treat from her.

This morning was so cold outside. I did not want to wake up, but I remembered I had to go meet Kris. With half awake and half asleep, I changed the kids' diapers, dressed them warm, got myself ready and then drove to Joseph Smith Building, the office where Kris works at. I saw her waiting outside the building freezing with no coat on. I told my self that whatever she had for me better be good since we both have sacrificed this much.

It was nice to see her, it had been a while since last time I saw her. She handed me a plate of different kind of treats, and said they were all homemade. They looked so yummy. I could not wait to get home to taste some, neither could Michael. We both enjoyed every bite of it on the way home. Thanks Aunty Kris and Kam...

Christmas Party

Last Saturday night we went to my work Christmas Party. It was a party that most people at work were looking forward to attending. I bought a cute dress from Motherhood a week prior. My friend Chelsea did my hair and make up. I had Jennifer ready to watch the kids. To be honest with you, I was expecting to win an award, any award, so I wanted to look as nice as possible.

The party was held at Sheraton Hotel. Moses and I arrived one hour late. I was just excited to see everyone, they all looked great. Eventhough the food was not as good as we expected, i was still having so much fun being there.

One by one they announced winners of the awards. My heart beat faster, hoping they would call my name. The last award finally was announced, and it was not for me. Pretending I was ok, Moses and I left the party after saying goodbye to everyone.

I almost cried, I was very disappointed. I could not understand why I was not one of them. I have done so much for the company. I have been doing what i was expected to do and more.

I could not stop talking about it all the way to pick up the kids. Everytime Moses tried to change the subject, I would go back to my whinning about why? why it was not me.

Moses then told me that as someone who is pregnant twice in two years, and still gets the managerial position, I should understand that they did see my work and appriciated it.

That's when I smiled. I did not see that coming, but I knew he was right.

I am just grateful for my family. We are here for each other.

Black Friday

Moses and I woke up early this morning. He knew i would want to go for what they call the best sale of the year. However i woke up not feeling well, and decided to wait.

I remember last year was the same, i was pregnant and not feeling so well, but i made everyone get ready and leave the house at 4 in the morning. And it was so crowded at Kohls, a store where we went to. I could not breath, cashier lines were so long. I got so dizzy then dropped all my stuff on the floor. Yeah I almost fainted. So we hid the stuff i picked where no one could notice and left the store without taking anything out.

I ended up going back to the store later that day, luckily everything was still in the same place where we hid them. However, I told myself that i would never put myself in that kind of embarrasment again.

Today, i left the house around 11 am. There was not much sale. I made sure i had eaten something before leaving the house. Moses made sure i had gatorade in the car just in case.

However, there was nothing extraordinary. There were not so many people out. The economy must have gone so bad. I myself did not have much money to spend. I got just what i had on my list, and a cute purse i could not say "no" to.

In case you wonder how my thanksgiving was yesterday, I have to admit, it was so much fun.
When we got there, I was surprised to meet two snakes in an aquarium. I thought they were not real, they told me they were not, either, but soon i realized they were joking.

Michael and Morie had the chance to touch them, I would not. Nathan tried to convince me that it would be fine, but I still would not. On the other hands, Jen's kids, Makay and Kailani were playing with them.

Jennifer is 19 weeks pregnant, in case you did not know. She does not know yet what the sex of the baby, but she wants a boy. She asked me what a good indonesian name for a boy. So if you have any idea, please let her know.

Dinner was amazing, everything was so good. I forgot to take pictures of the food because i was enjoying my dinner too much. Sister Kadarusman prepared almost everything on the table. She also made wedang ronde for dessert. I almost forgot how good that wedang ronde tastes.

We had fun spending our thanksgiving with them. They are wonderful people.

Thanks Giving

Happy thanks giving everyone!

Every Thanksgiving my work place gives out a big Turkey for each employee. Last year I prepared what I thought was the best thanksgiving food. It took so long to prepare it. I also prepared Ham cause Moses does not eat birds.

However, no body seemed to enjoy my cooking. It did hurt my feelings, but believe me, I am so used to it now.

So this year, when Moses asked me what I would do to the Turkey, I told him I would cook it, but he suggested to just give it to some big African Family whom he said might need it more (although what he really meant was "know how to cook it better"). I just told him, Ok ! without arguing. Yeah! I would not want to waste my 10 hours cooking that Turkey anyway.

Jennifer Kadarusman invited us to have Thanksgiving Lunch with them. I am excited. Her mom is there with them, so I'm expecting that they would prepare some Indonesian food. I offered to bring brownies. I am sure I can't do wrong on this one, everything needed is in the box. I know they will enjoy it.

Why Sierra-Indo?

Besides that it sounds so cool, I am an indonesian who is married to Moses, who is from Sierra Leone. Where is Sierra leone? you may ask. It is somewhere in West Africa, close to Ghana. Do you know the movie "blood diamond"? Yeah the movie was inspired by a true-event that occurrred in Sierra Leone.

Michael Duta Kabo

He is the noise of our home. Was born February 7, 2006, Michael is the trouble, the reason I do not have enough sleep, the reason I do not clean as much, and even though sad, but true cause he's the reason I sometimes can't wait to be at work =).

But he is also the reason I enjoy discovering new things so I can show them to him, the reason I love to go to Foodnetwork.com, resepmami.com or call people to get recipes so he is exposed to good food that I make, the reason I smile when I am sad, the reason I do not spend money on myself as much anymore so he can have better toys, better clothes and better care. And one more thing, he is the reason I prayed for another one like him, and the reason I am blessed with

Morie Christopher Kabo.

He is not exactly like Michael, but I know he is everything that I could ask for. Morie was born February 23, 2008. He has the most genuine smile and laugh I have ever seen! Everytime I look at him I feel calm and comforted. Everything about him is perfect. There is not much I can complain about. The only thing is that he is the reason I am broke. And eventhough he is closer to Moses than to me, I know one of these days, he will love me more.. =).

Savanna Putri Kabo

I am not sure yet if that's her name, but I really like that name. I got to pick the name for this one because she's going to be my baby girl. Her due date is February 21, 2009. Don't get mad at me now if I never told you about it cause I am still speechless myself for being pregnant, again!
I was worried because I did not think I could handle it, but now I am just excited. Don't we have that saying backhome "the more kids you get, the more blessings you receive!" Yeah I just count on that. We need those blessings!
But I know for sure that after this one I will be telling myself "ok girl.. you've had enough!"
